"Pivoting isn't plan B; it's a part of the process" -- unknown

Black therapist i the office on computer

I'm Latise.

I’m a big believer in changing direction when things aren’t going your way or when you feel stuck.

Many people, including myself, have experienced this. The key question is: how do you fix it? You PIVOT. If nothing changes, nothing changes! So, take a step back, reflect on how you got here, and figure out what you really want to do about it. It’s all about making space for change!

And I'm here to help you.

I’m passionate about so many things—spending time with family and friends, reading, working out, trying new restaurants, and, of course, a little shopping!

What I truly love, though, is being a therapist. Helping people reach their full potential is what I’m meant to do, and I feel so lucky to call it my life’s work.

I grew up in North Carolina and earned my Bachelor’s in Sociology and African American Studies from UNC Chapel Hill (Go Heels!). Later, I got my Master’s in Social Work from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. For over 10 years, I’ve worked with adults in a variety of settings—community mental health, hospitals, and inpatient psych facilities. Now, I’m in private practice. I’ve also completed advanced training in TF-CBT, CBT for Insomnia, Brainspotting, and EMDR.

My Approach to Therapy

I believe in a modern approach to therapy because I know there’s no "one size fits all" method. The relationship I build with my clients really shapes how we work together. Building rapport is super important to me, so I like to start by connecting over shared experiences, interests, and hobbies.  From there, we’ll dive into the issues (or non-issues) that brought you to therapy, but always at your pace. It’s all about what feels right for you!
